Water use from fire hydrants

Who can order the service?
The service for using water from fire hydrants is primarily intended for public authorities and businesses that require large amounts of water temporarily for various works, maintenance or events.

Book a service
To use the service, please e-mail your request at tvesi@tvesi.ee. Please indicate in the letter:
- name of the user;
- the intended period and purpose of use;
- where will you drain the water taken from the hydrant;
- specify the hydrant from which you intend to take water.
If you don’t find a suitable hydrant, please tell us the estimated amount of water you expect to use.
We will contact you within two business days after receiving your request to explain the next steps. We will also sign a hire agreement with you.
When water is taken from a hydrant, the amount of wastewater is usually considered to be equal to the amount of water taken from the public water supply system.
Get a standpipe
The standpipe will be handed over to either a member of the company's management board or their authorised representative.
The standpipe can be collected from our address at Ädala 10, Tallinn. To make sure everything goes smoothly, please call 626 2200 before coming and book a standpipe in advance.
Terminate the hire agreement
When you no longer use the hydrant, please return the standpipe to our office at Ädala 10, Tallinn.
After that, we will prepare a final bill for you based on your consumption.
Your responsibilities when using a hydrant
During the time the hydrant is being used, the customer is responsible for ensuring that everything is done safely and correctly. This includes:
- organising water extraction activities and ensuring their safety;
- keeping the area around the hydrant in good condition – access must be open, and area must be tidy and undamaged;
- making sure that the standpipe is stored safely and returned on time at the end of the agreement.
