Clean drinking water must be accessible to all, without excessive packaging.

In cooperation with the City of Tallinn, we have created opportunities for everyone to conveniently refill their reusable water bottles in public spaces across the city.

The taps marked with a sign of Tallinna Vesi provide healthy tap water of tested quality. We monitor the water quality every day, by taking more than 3,000 water samples across the city every year.

Each drinking water point has a QR code that you can scan to easily locate all our other water points on the map.

The importance of drinking water taps

  • Healthy and reliable: we guarantee water quality and test water more than required by law.
  • Free and always within reach: accessible all summer long, just when you need it the most.
  • Kind to the environment: every time a bottle of water is refilled, it helps to reduce plastic waste and protect nature.

By providing one cubic metre of tap water, we avoid the production, transport and handling of around 2,000 plastic or glass bottles. This means that every sip is more significant than it first appears.

Where can you find the taps?

Public water points have been installed in popular public areas, including the Old Town, pedestrian and cycle paths, playgrounds, the Song Festival Grounds and the Kalevi Stadium, as well as many other locations which tend to attract large numbers of people.

There are already 60 outdoor drinking water points in Tallinn today, with new ones being added every year.

The target is to have drinking water points at least every 2 km. Some taps also have a small bowl for our four-legged friends, and we plan to add more of these in cooperation with the City of Tallinn in the future.

You will also find taps indoors, at places such as the Energy Discovery Centre, Super Skypark, Tallinn Airport, and the Port of Tallinn.

When are public water taps open?

Public water points open in spring, usually by early May, and close in autumn to prevent them from freezing over the winter.

Also, it is during the summer months that water consumption is at its highest, especially during periods of hot weather.
