Cooperation and support activities

Contributing to the local community

Clean drinking water is not only a physical necessity, but also helps build stronger communities. We support projects and initiatives that give impetus to this flow and are directly or indirectly linked to our business.

We believe it is important to raise environmental awareness and emphasise the role of tap water as a clean, environmentally sustainable and affordable source of drinking water.

In our support activities, we keep a clear focus on two key areas that will help to keep life fresh today and tomorrow: environmental education and the local community, including support for people with fewer opportunities.

Freshness that reaches the community

Since 2021, we have installed new public drinking water taps each year, making fresh tap water available to everyone.

Today, there are 60 outdoor public taps in Tallinn, open throughout the summer season.

Public indoor taps can be found at the Energy Discovery Centre, Tallinn Airport and Port of Tallinn.

Water tanks

We provide free water tanks for public events. We have supported several large community events, including the Song and Dance Celebration, the sustainability festival Impact Day, the Investment Festival, Tallinn Old Town Days, Tallinn Maritime Days, the Tallinn Urban Space Festival, the Run around Lake Ülemiste, which is hosted by Tallinna Vesi, the IRONMAN Tallinn, and the Maardu Triathlon, as well as many other events in our service area.

Environmental education

Every year, we organise open days and guided tours at the Ülemiste Water Treatment Plant and the Paljassaare Wastewater Treatment Plant. We also hold discussion groups focusing on water and the environment and offer educational materials for children.

The importance of drinking water is also introduced to children by our mascot Tilgu, who has become a favourite of many children.

A fresh view and clear actions

For several years, we have participated in the Opinion Festival and Impact Day, discussing the future and sharing knowledge about maintaining a fresh, sustainable living environment.

We believe it is important to contribute to the Estonian water industry as a whole. To this end, we participate in working groups organised by both the Estonian Waterworks Association and the European Federation of National Associations of Water Services (EUREAU).

In addition, we are actively involved in the Green Tiger initiative, in order to gain a broader understanding of environmental issues and share our knowledge with others.

We have also joined the Diversity Charter to ensure that our work culture and community remain open, fair and inclusive.

Decorating the pumping stations

In collaboration with students from the Faculty of Fine Arts at the Estonian Academy of Arts, we have been decorating Tallinn's pumping stations for several consecutive years, bringing street art to the city and providing passers-by with a visual treat. Eight pumping stations have been given a fresh look by today.

Good deeds are born when working together

We have signed a cooperation agreement with the Estonian Paralympic Committee to support Paralympic athletes in their preparation, and to promote sporting opportunities and improve the overall quality of life for people with disabilities in Estonia. Tallinna Vesi and the Estonian parasports community have been working together for more than ten years.

Charity

Each year, we select the organisations and projects that we will support with a donation, including those that help people with fewer opportunities.

Our cooperation with the Õunake Kindergarten and the Ristiku Primary School in Tallinn goes back many years.

We have also supported the Agrenska Foundation, the Tallinn Children's Hospital Foundation, the Autism School Charity Fund, the North Estonian Association of the Blind, the Tallinn Women's Crisis Home and the Food Bank.

Õppurite toetamine

We recognise and support successful students at universities and vocational schools, helping them to become leaders in their field. We award scholarships at TalTech, Tallinn University of Applied Sciences, Estonian University of Life Sciences, Tallinn Centre of Industrial Education, Tallinn Lasnamäe School of Mechanics and Tallinn College of Applied Sciences.

Run around Lake Ülemiste, hosted by Tallinna Vesi

Once a year, we open the territory of the water treatment plant to hundreds of runners who can enjoy a unique opportunity to run around Lake Ülemiste. The event is part of the Maru Lake Run series.
